Root Canal Therapy

Lease a new life to broken down teeth.

Root Canal Therapy in Bedford.

At de-ientes we are passionate about saving teeth. We try our utmost to preserve and protect what nature has given us and we avoid dental extractions where possible.

Why?

There is nothing better than your own tooth in your mouth.

Why do I need a Root canal?

Root canal treatment (also called endodontics) is needed when the pulp inside your tooth becomes infected through tooth decay or damaged by an injury to your mouth. This infection may spread through the root canal system and could eventually lead to an abscess, causing a great deal of discomfort. If root canal treatment is not carried out, the tooth may need to be taken out.

If you have any toothache, please contact us to book an appointment so we can assess and diagnose the problem.

Dispelling myths about Root Canal

  • Root canal’s are not painful procedures. The tooth is anesthesised fully to ensure our patients do not experience any pain.

  • ‘I had a root canal once and the tooth had to be extracted anyway’. This is a common problem patients worry about. In truth root canals are not completely full proof. However our technology has improved and we cut no corner to acheive the best result. We like to say 80-90% of root canals are successful over 5 years.

  • Appointments are long. Unfortunately root canals are time consuming procedures. 2 Appointments are normally needed and each usually lasts 1 hour.

Procedure

1.

Local anaesthetic is administered to ensure a painfree experience.

2.

The infected contents of the tooth are cleaned chemically and mechianically with very fine instruments.

3.

The root is sealed with a rubber filling.

4.

The tooth will need a cap or strong filling to protect it. We provide cosmetic ceramic options.
